Reset Xfce Panels to Default Settings in Ubuntu

Xfce is a lightweight, open-source desktop environment for Unix-like operating systems. Xfce is known for fast, lightweight and easy to use desktop environment.

Sometimes, doing customization to the top panel bar, you may does to much changes and want to back normal panel. Or sometimes top panel dosn't apprear on the screen, so you want it back.

Here in article, we will see how to back Xfce panel to its default setting. Run the below commands one by one to reset Xfce panel to default.

If you want to backup current xfce4 panel configuration, run the below command.

cp -r ~/.config/xfce4 ~/xfce4

Quit to xfce4-panel with command:

xfce4-panel --quit

Xfce configuration stored running session in xfconfd, so kill the xfce4 configuration daemon with command:

pkill xfconfd

Now delete settings for the panel:

rm -rf ~/.config/xfce4/panel

Also clear the settings for xfconfd:

rm -rf ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml

Restart the panel with command. This will also regenerates xfconfd session automatically.

xfce4-panel

This will back Xfce panel back to default setting. I hope this article will help you to reset the xfce4-panel.
